The mid-year workshop will be held in Montgomery on January 14, 2008 at the AEA building on Dexter Avenue. In the morning session participants will review details on the annual PACERS newspaper awards.
The award categories are:
- Best paper
- Best business plan and business operation
- Most effective and comprehensive involvement of students
- Best feature
- Best articles on community, school, and sports
- Best Photo
- Best Graphics
Following the opening session there will be two concurrent sessions that will continue into the afternoon. At one session students will share and review their papers and their plans for the spring. Another session in the morning and in the afternoon will be devoted to layout and design. The workshop will close with a review of plans for the spring conference and of the project documentation process.
Cost for travel (two cars), lunch, and substitutes will be paid by PACERS. Teachers attending will receive a stipend. It is essential for each school to have a community member attend the meeting.
